The Buena Mulata is a unique variety of chili pepper bred in the United States of America by African-American artist Horace Pippin. The seeds of this particular variety were later preserved and distributed by William Woys Weaver, an organic farmer and grandson of one of Pippin's friends. Since then, the Buena Mulata has caused a stir around the world.

Violet variety - characteristics of Buena Mulata

The Buena Mulata is known for its unusual colour change as it ripens. The fruits begin as purple and change colour through white and orange to a deep red when fully ripe. This variety of colours makes the Buena Mulata a decorative and eye-catching plant in any garden.

With a spiciness of around 15,000 to 30,000 Scoville units, the Buena Mulata also brings considerable heat. The fruits are about 6 - 8 cm long and the plant reaches a height of up to 90 cm and produces a high number of fruits.

Great for cooking and pickling, the Buena Mulata adds a pleasant spiciness and unique flavour to any dish in which it is used.
