The Katie chilli variety has officially broken the British spiciness record. With a staggering 1,590,000 Scoville units, it outperforms its competitors by far. Bred by Nick Duran, also known as Naga Nick, this variety is an impressive cross between the Naga Viper and the Red 7 Pod Jonah, both chilis already known for their exceptional heat.

Cultivation and care

Despite its extreme hotness, Katie is surprisingly undemanding in care. It prefers sunny locations and well-drained soil, reaches a growth height of 80 to 120 cm and offers a rich harvest. Its care requirements are similar to those of other Capsicum chinense varieties, with regular watering and fertilizing being essential for a successful harvest.
