The Matchbox Pepper, a creation of Roberta Bailey for Fedco Seeds in Maine, USA, is an outstanding variety of the Capsicum annuum family. Known for its intense heat and fruity-spicy aroma, it shares many taste characteristics with the famous Thai chili. With a spiciness of level 7 on the Scoville scale, it offers an impressive spiciness that will delight both connoisseurs and lovers of spicy food.

Cultivation and care

The Matchbox Pepper has a compact growth habit, reaches a height of approximately 70 cm and is therefore ideal for cultivation in pots or in the home garden. A pot size of 10 liters or more is recommended to provide this variety with enough space for healthy growth. The plant is characterized by its white flowers and elongated fruits, which ripen from green to a bright red, and produces a fruit size of 3 to 5 cm.
